How to solve the Utility Closet breaker box puzzle in Blue Prince

The Utility Closet is a blueprint room from Blue Prince that allows you to control the power to specific rooms, like the Garage, through its breaker box puzzle.

The breaker box has your usual switches to control power, but also includes six buttons labeled “V.A.C. indicators.” Pressing the buttons seems to do absolutely nothing, but, just given how things are in Blue Prince, they must do something, right?

To save you some time (and random button inputs), here’s how to solve the Utility Closet breaker box puzzle in Blue Prince and where to find hints on how to solve it.

There are three hints relating to the breaker box, and they can be found in the following locations:

• Mail Room
• Office emails
• Ninth letter from laboratory experiments

To solve the Breaker Box puzzle, you’ll need to set the V.A.C. indicators to the following sequence: Gray, Blue, Green, White, Red, Purple.

To do so, you’ll need to hit particular buttons in a specific order. In this step-by-step walkthrough, we’ll be referring to the buttons by their numbered position, as seen in the image above, and the color they should display based on what step you’ve completed.

Follow these steps to solve the breaker box puzzle:

1. Set every button to green by pressing each button once.
2. Click either button 1 or 6 to turn it blue.
3. Select the green button adjacent to the blue button to turn it red.
4. Click on the blue button to turn the red button purple.
5. Click on the purple button to turn it blue.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 until five out of six buttons are blue.
7. Click on the isolated blue button to move it over one spot.
8. Click on the gray button twice to make it red.
9. Click on the blue button beside the red button to create a purple button.
10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 until five out of the six buttons are purple.
11. Click on the gray button three times to turn it purple.
12. Click on button 4 once to turn it white.
13. Click on button 5 to turn it blue.
14. Click on button 6 to turn until it turns red.
15. Click on button 5 to make button 6 purple.
16. Click on button 5 until it turns red.
17. Click on button 3 twice — turning button 3 gray and button 2 blue.
18. Click on button 3 once to make it green.
19. Click on button 1 until it turns gray.

Once completed, the V.A.C. indicators on your breaker box should look like the image above, and the wall will rise up to the ceiling — revealing an electrical box. Interact with the electrical box to unlock the Gemstone Cavern, a permanent addition that lets you start the day with 2 gems.
