From high fantasy to noir dystopias, I've found you nothing but the most banger deals actually worth owning.

This Day in Gaming ?

In retro news, I’m celebrating the 30th (!!!) birthday of Tekken, Namco’s groundbreaking arcade fighter that went toe-to-toe with Virtua Fighter. It was the dawn of a new era: no more sprites, no more two dimensions, just pure 3D face-punching spectacular that (somehow) looked beautiful to mine eyes. Admittedly, this OG got left in the dust by the way more seminal Tekken 2, but this...this was the rock upon which Namco built its 58 million copies sold church.

Did you know the battle system uses magical cards and was designed by the same team behind Xenogears and Chrono Cross? Meanwhile, Deliver Us the Moon is a moody sci-fi gem that was originally crowdfunded, and it nails the loneliness of lunar exploration for just A$9.

On PC, Control Ultimate Edition is a steal at A$8, a surreal action thriller with a shape-shifting gun and a hotline to the dead. And then there's Braid at A$2, a title that remains a timeless puzzle-platformer and it helped kick off the indie revolution back in 2008.
