Do pack points carry over between expansions in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Pack Points are your way of tilting the odds in Pokémon TCG Pocket. When the gacha gods refuse to award you that Kangaskhan you’re pulling for, pack points allow you to simply buy it (or, y’know, any card you’re aiming for).

Here’s how to get pack points in Pokémon TCG Pocket, alongside some explanation of how they work in the wake of the Mythical Island expansion.

How to get pack points in Pokémon TCG Pocket

To earn pack points in Pokémon TCG Pocket, you simply need to open booster packs. You’ll earn five pack points for every booster pack you open.

That said, pack points do not apply to all booster packs in TCG Packet. Pack points are only applicable for the expansion you earned them from. For instance, if you open any of the three booster packs in the Genetic Apex expansion, you’ll be be able exchange them for Genetic Apex cards, but won’t be able to use them to buy cards from the Mythical Island expansion. Conversely, you can’t exchange pack points earned from opening the Mythical Island expansion’s booster packs for cards from the Genetic Apex expansion.

Pack points expire “if the availability for a given booster pack ends,” according to an in-game menu prior to December 2024’s Mythical Island update. Though as of this writing, there’s no indication of that happening any time soon — that text no longer appears in the game.

Pack point exchange rates in Pokémon TCG Pocket

The pack point cost for a card is determined by the card’s rarity, indicated in the lower-left corner of each card. The cost breakdown is as follows:

• 35 pack points: One-diamond rarity
• 70 pack points: Two-diamond rarity
• 150 pack points: Three-diamond rarity
• 400 pack points: One-star rarity
• 500 pack points: Four-diamond rarity
• 1,250 pack points: Two-star rarity
• 1,500 pack points: Three-star rarity
• 2,500 pack points: One-crown rarity
