Sony has finally, sort of, released themes for the PlayStation 5, as players can style their home screen and menus after the PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 for a limited time, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of PlayStation on December 3.
A PS5 feature update is now available which, once downloaded, prompts users to "celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary" with themes styled after the beloved consoles' history. It's unclear how long the themes will be available, as the menu option states users can only change them "for a limited time.
As part of PlayStation's 30th Anniversary, you can change parts of the PS5 startup and background, including the bootup audio sounds and themes of previous generations PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4.

"You can change parts of the PS5 design based on your favorite generation of PlayStation," it states. "Select a design to apply to your home screen and other areas."
The PSOne theme adds the classic console to the home screen background, the PS2 theme adds its menu shapes, the PS3 theme adds its wave background, and the PS4 theme similarly adds the wave patterns seen in the background of the previous generation of PlayStation. All themes also add each console's sound effects.
This isn't the only way PlayStation is celebrating its anniversary, as a range of PSOne themed hardware has also been released. Bloodborne fans are also freaking out about a maintenance being scheduled for the anniversary date tomorrow, but it's unclear if this has anything to do with the long-requested PS5 update.
