Metroid fans will be eating well in 2025. We’ll get our very patient hands on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for whichever variation(s) of the Nintendo Switch it launches on. And, I suspect there will be a huge overlap of players who may also be interested in this new 208-page hardcover art book that’s set to come out on July 31, 2025, and is now available to pre-order on Amazon for $44.99.
Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective from publisher Piggyback will includes loads of art, behind-the-scenes info, and commentary from key members on the development of the trilogy of Prime titles that spanned the GameCube and the Wii, plus the phenomenal 2023 Switch remaster of the original Prime game. Wow, do I sincerely wish this were coming out sooner.
According to Piggyback’s site, the book was developed in collaboration with Nintendo and Retro Studios, and it contains concept art and illustrations spanning the trilogy. As only the cover has been revealed, we’ll just have to imagine all the cool art and anecdotes that await us inside the book. Piggyback has made plenty of great books. It’s most recent hit was its 496-page hardcover strategy guide for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is a very good deal at $22.50.
As is always the case with book pre-orders through Amazon, should the pre-order price fall between when you purchase a copy and when it launches (as it has done a couple of times already, dropping to $34.99), you’ll be charged the lowest price it was offered for during the pre-release period.
