A pitch video for a Lego James Bond video game has leaked online, but unfortunately the project failed to materialize.

A near minute-long trailer shared on X/Twitter by @LEGOGameMuseum shows a handful of Lego-fied scenes from James Bond films starring the likes of Daniel Craig's 007 among others who've played the iconic spy.

The trailer was confirmed to be real by former Lego Games tech director Paul Hughes, who said he saw the trailer as it was being worked on. This was during the tail end of Lego Dimensions' development period, according to LEGOGameMuseum on Reddit.

"I saw it when it was being made," said Hughes, who is now the head of tech at video game company Ripstone. "As always there's a story behind it. Suffice to say it never went into production." He added that it "could've been amazing."

"Alas NDAs (still!) prevent people talking about what it was / could've been," Hughes continued. "I always thought it would've been a total banger if it had happened with so much history behind it... Oh well..."

Again according to the LEGOGameMuseum, the trailer was produced as a pitch to The Lego Group that TT Games hoped would result in the go-ahead for a full Lego James Bond game to be developed. The Lego Group allegedly deemed the franchise not suitable for a Lego game, however, so passed on the opportunity.

Lego is predomoninantly targetted at children, of course, and the games follow suit with a family friendly approach. That's not stoped The Lego Group approving a handful of more grown up franchises though, including the recent release of Lego Horizon Adventures.

In our 7/10 review of this release, IGN said: "Lego Horizon Adventures reimagines Horizon Zero Dawn with a playful Lego twist, simplifying the story while keeping the heart of its key moments and characters."
