Marvel Cinematic Universe star Jeremy Renner doesn't believe his near-fatal snow plow accident in January 2023 limits him at all, joking that he's now "25% titanium, so f**k Iron Man."

Almost two years on from the accident which left the actor with blunt chest trauma and 38 broken bones, Renner told Variety he's very proud to have overcome the challenge and appreciates the second chance he was given.

"I don’t think of it as limitations, even though I’m 25% titanium, so f**k Iron Man," Renner said. "It’ll be two years in January, and I am very, very proud to overcome a great adversity in my life, and I’m forever grateful for all the love and support I’ve gotten from people all around the world, even those I never knew existed, that helped propel me to get better, and it’s the only thing that really kind of defines me in my life at this point."

Renner revealed he's currently writing a book about the accident, and is currently in the final editing stages. "There’s so many wonderful gifts that come from being tested to your limits of death," he said. "Because I did die, and I came back, and I came back for a reason, and nothing to do with me. If it was my choice, I’d rather stay. But I came back, and I’m glad I’m back."

Renner was near his home in Nevada on January 1, 2023 using a snowcat — a 14,330 pound, truck-sized, fully tracked vehicle — to pull his nephew's truck out of the snow before noticing the snowcat was sliding sideways towards his nephew. Renner then exited the vehicle to try and stop it but was pulled under by its track and run over, suffering blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.

He returned to work a year later as Paramount drama Mayor of Kingstown resumed production, though Renner is obviously most notable for his starring in the Marvel franchise.

The Hawkeye actor said in August he'd likely return in Avengers: Doomday alongside his original Avengers castmate Robert Downey Jr., though nothing is confirmed yet. Downey Jr. is returning not as Iron Man but instead as Doctor Doom, however, and Chris Evans will reportedly appear in the film too.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
