Sometimes you're in the mood for aliens, sometimes babies scare you, and sometimes the adult toys that live in your bedside drawer have eyes. Whatever your thing is, Love, Death + Robots Vol 4 will have you covered when ten new animated shorts drop on Netflix on May 5.
All Netflix is giving us right now is a teaser trailer heavy with the trademark Love, Death + Robots gut punch of visuals combined with what look to be more promisingly weird ideas. Here's just a few we spotted in the single minute of footage.
- Some sort of epic looking space battle or disaster
- A puppet rock band
- The aforementioned adult toy, rendered with giant eyes in claymation
- A priest walking with an alien (tentacles) on a beach
- A tortured, possibly bionic woman with a cute fuzzball companion
- Babies. Like massive, threatening babies.
- Dinosaur on dinosaur violence
- An alien invasion rendered in miniatures
- A digusted voyeur of a cat
Deadpool director, Tim Miller, and Seven and The Social Network director, David Fincher, are executive producers on the series, with Jennifer Yuh Nelson, an artist on Kung Fu Panda 2 and Shrek Forever after, returning to the supervising director's chair.
"If the legacy of Love, Death + Robots is that there are a handful, fifteen people, ten years from now who became directors or became animators or became motion capture performers or doing voice work because they were such big Love, Death + Robots fans, that's all I care about right now," Fincher told Collider in a 2022 interview.
"This show was never going to pay for your Gulf Stream. You're either here because you want to be here or you're not here. We're hoping desperately to get to waste more of our lives toiling in obscurity."
