They say that a heist needs a good distraction to pull off successfully. What could possibly be a better distraction than an attack by the rampaging kaiju Godzilla? That's basically the premise behind IDW Publishing's upcoming miniseries Godzilla: Heist.
Fittingly, Godzilla: Heist will feature five variant covers that pay homage to classic heist movies of decades past, including The Fast and the Furious, Point Break, and Mission: Impossible. IGN can exclusively debut all five covers, along with several pages of colored interior art. Check them out in the slideshow gallery below:
Godzilla: Heist is written by Van Jensen (The Flash) and illustrated by Kelsey Ramsay (Doctor Who: The Fifteenth Doctor), with main cover art by Bob Eggleton. Pablo Tunica illustrated the five variant covers.
“Some may see these variant covers and view them as incredibly rad parodies created by the extraordinarily talented Pablo Tunica," Godzilla line editor Jake Williams tells IGN. "But not me. No, I see them as meaningful pieces of fine art that together express a very important message for our trying times: that every single Heist movie would be made 1000% better through the inclusion of Godzilla. For further proof of this, look no further than Godzilla: Heist #1 releasing in February 2025."
Here's IDW's official description for the upcoming series:
What if you could predict when and where Godzilla would appear? What if you knew of the perfect opportunity to pull off the heist of the century? Jai is a young man who knows two things: A heist needs a good distraction, and there's no distraction like Godzilla. So, when Jai discovers Godzilla responds to specific energy signals he can send into the atmosphere, he creates the perfect opportunity to stage high-profile heists in the middle of Godzilla attacks. But these heists put Jai on the radar of some very dangerous men, men who want Jai to work with them to pull off the most dangerous job the world has ever seen!
Godzilla: Heist #1 will be released on February 19, 2025, with a preorder deadline of January 13.
