Darrington Press, the publishing imprint of actual play titan Critical Role, has revealed the cover for its upcoming tabletop role-playing game Daggerheart. The TTRPG, set to be released in Spring 2025, takes the found family adventuring dynamics for which the cast of Critical Role is best known and mechanizes them in a narrative-forward, d12-based system.
The cover was unveiled at PAX Unplugged, a tabletop game-focused gaming convention in Philadelphia. The standard Daggerheart Core Set includes a core rulebook and box for the card decks that add a physical element to character creation. With artwork by Mat Wilma, the standard edition’s box cover features a nighttime scene with an ethereal stag, while the interior book cover includes an array of original characters and creatures in an epic fantasy style. The combination of the two pieces centers the game’s unique worldbuilding and player-driven nature, or at least the version of it available in the public beta playtest. While reviews of the initial versions were somewhat mixed, more recent iterations of the game have been met with high praise.
A limited edition Daggerheart box set also debuted alongside the standard cover reveal. The set is held within a full wrap-around box that includes an alternate cover core rulebook and a pull-out drawer that holds the game’s card decks, a set of dice, and a GM screen with matching artwork by Dominik Mayer.
Daggerheart is available for pre-order in person at PAX Unplugged or online at daggerheart.com. The standard Core Set is available for $59.99, with the Limited Edition set available for $149.99.
