It’s the most wonderful time of the year! A time when we gamers collectively gather around the digital hearth and argue spiritedly about which games do and do not deserve to make the coveted Best Games of 2024 list. If it were up to me, Balatro would be numbers 1-50, but apparently not everyone agrees and this is perhaps why I was not invited to join Polygon’s decision committee this year.
My superb taste notwithstanding, even I must admit there were dozens of excellent games this year — far too many for any one person to play. If you have the time, I highly recommend reading through our full Best Video Games of 2024 list. But if you’re pressed for time and only have 10 minutes to spare, might I instead suggest checking out the video above? It’s a unique talent the Polygon video team has, distilling years of hard work and millions of dollars in game development down to a mere seven words — and yet, we’ve managed to do it a whopping 50 times in a span of 10 minutes.
