The Nintendo Store in San Francisco is not even open for another month, but it's already got at least one person camping out for a Nintendo Switch 2.
YouTuber Super Cafe released a video on April 8 which detailed his flight out to San Francisco. He apparently plans to camp out for both the release of the Switch 2 and the actual store opening itself, as the new Nintendo Store location won't open its doors until May 15.
The content creator flew "over 800 miles" and plans on to camp out for the next two months, holding out for both to be first in line on the west coast.
"I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out," Super Cafe said. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."
Now the San Francisco store has its own camper, just like the New York store, where another YouTube content creator is waiting out to be first in line for the Switch 2 there. Interestingly, Super Cafe said he's mostly going as a solo camper, and at one point encouraged anyone else thinking about camping out for the San Francisco opening to get in touch.
As far as accomodations, food, showers, and other basic facts of life, Super Cafe said he'll be answering those questions in a future Q&A.
The tradition of camping out for a big Nintendo release, especially a console, stretches way, way back. And now, both coastal Nintendo stores have their own campers. Whether this starts a chain reaction of others lining up or not, these creators seem dedicated, at the very least.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is due to launch on June 5, 2025. If you don't want to physically plant yourself outside a store, you can check out our guides on how Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are faring, though the ongoing tariffs are making it a bit of a murky situaton for those in the United States.
