Pokémon Go’s “Pokémon Horizons: The Series Celebration” event has a paid research ticket that gives you a one-step research, “Don’t Tinkatink Twice!,” for $4.99. The research includes rewards like Tinkatink encounters and a special pose, but is it worth buying?

Is the “Don’t Tinkatink Twice!” paid research worth it?

As usual with these things, it depends on what you value:

• For coin value of items, no, the research is not worth it. The cost of the premium items you receive (one Incubator, as well as some berries and Ultra Balls) do not equate higher value in coins.
• If you like poses, yes, the research is worth it. Poses are technically 500-600 coins, so this would make it worth the coin value, but this really only matters if you collect poses or you like this pose.

• If you really want a guaranteed Tinkatink, also yes, the research is worth it. Tinkatink only comes from eggs during this event — and will continue to only come from eggs after this event. So if you really want a Tinkatink guaranteed, then buying this ticket will give you at least one.

Unless Tinkatink is your favorite Pokémon or you really love this hammer pose, I would not buy the ticket. (Selling tickets that give you the guaranteed item that is otherwise only available through Pokémon Go’s lootbox-equivalent is… hmm, not a practice I particularly want to support. That’s all I’ll say.)
